Can you please introduce yourself (who are you, where are you from, what do you study)?
I am Matej, 23 years old. I was born in Bratislava. Currently I study Strategic Management at Comenius University in Bratislava.
How long have you been a member of ESN and what were your roles before becoming a member of national board?
I have been active member in ESN for almost two years. Before becoming a NB member I was a treasurer in my section. In the addition I am also a president of ESN CU.
What is your position in NB and how long have you been doing it?
My position is Partnership Manager and I have beed doing it for just few month, since January.
Can you describe a typical day of Parthership Manager of ESN SK?
My typical day related to my position look like this. First I always check emails, if there is anything new from our partners, other sections, or international level. Then I check facebook or other social media for any news. Sometimes I have a skype call with current partners or potential new partners. Also I have to communicate with my colleagues, especially with Treasurer - Kika and Communication Manager - Timo.
What was your most valuable experience connected to being in NB so far?
I think it was our last National Platform in Bratislava. For the first time I had an opportunity to interact with all the sections, I had my own presentations, there we also some partners. It was really good experience.
What were the most challenging tasks that you had to deal with?
The most challenging task was definitely right after I was elected. I had no transition period or anything like that. Moreless I had to find all information about partnership by myself. In addition I found that no one read partnership email for more that half year. I had so much work to do, to check everything. And off course we found so many overdue things - like invoices, orders for ESNcard, partnership offers etc. Despite of these circumstances I was able to deal with it and put it back to normal.
What is your biggest goal that you want to accomplish before the end of your mandate?
I would like to sign at least one more partnership contract. I currently negotiate with few potential partners, so lets see.
Have you attended any international events? If so, which ones and what was the best about them?
No not yet. But in 3 weeks I am going to AGM Berlin.
What is your message for people who can’t decide whether to join NB of ESN or not?
Don't be afraid to do it. You will meet so many new people, you will get new experience, you can learn something. For me it means I can apply management in practise. And it is also good point in your CV.
